Hello readers!
We are back for anther round of scary movies and my reviews!

Coraline
Directed by Henry Selick
Released 2009
Scare Level:😱
Gore Level: 🩸
Over-all rating:💚💚💚
Review:
First of all, this movie is considered a thriller by IMDb and the original book is under the horror genre on Goodreads. Just wanted to put that out there, in case there was argument that it did not belong on this list.
Over-all I thought the movie was kind of meh. I didn't initially like Coraline as a character, so I feel like I didn't have a connecting motivator for the story. By the end I felt bad for her parents, which to me was kind of missing the point.
The underlining concept of the story was great, as well as the visuals. Typically I don't care for the animation style utilized in the movie, but the colors and scene execution I thought were great. I think for me, I found a lot of the characters un-relatable and annoying. I would watch it again though.

The Last Exorcism
Directed by Daniel Stamm
Released 2010

Gore Level: ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸
Over-all rating: ðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’š
Review:
First of all, I really enjoy alternative filming styles, specifically documentary or collection of media to build a story. It's an underrated element that really adds an easy way of delivering information that enhances the story.
Despite the filming aspect that I liked, the movie was on the high side of okay. It's heavy in the themes of religion because you are following a man who was a figure in the church. He was trying to disprove exorcisms were garbage and in turn found himself an actual possessed child. Over-all, I felt bad for the father. I am kind of curious to see the sequel, especially if the story continues a little more. The ending of this left quite a few questions.

Mother!
Directed by Darren Aronofsky
Released 2017
Scare Level: ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜±
Gore Level: ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸
Over-all rating: ðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’š
Review:
First of all, Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing screamer. The rasp to her voice really adds to the effect.
This movie is definitely obscure. You spend almost two hours just in a constant state of what the fuck. It's like watching a greek epic play out, because it's comletely obscure but at the heart is a man who is riding a wave of his own ego and a woman who may be mentally deranged.
Everything slowly progresses into a total chaos. The entire thing gave me anxiety and a serious fear for Jennifer's character. It's hard to describe exactly what I think of the movie other than I do like it, it's just really obscure. It left me more emotional than scared, but all the anxiety was kind of scary.

Hellraiser
Directed by Clive Barker
Released 1987
Scare Level: ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜±ðŸ˜±
Gore Level: ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸ðŸ©¸
Over-all rating: ðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’šðŸ’š
Review:
  Man. What. A. Movie.
Larry is an idiot. Julia is a psychopath. There is nothing but gore. The horsemen of the apocalypse are here.
There isn't much backstory, it's just pure scare. Although typically I like some idea of the bigger picture, but this is an instance where you just ride the crazy train and don't ask questions.
And crazy train is literally what this movie is.There is a lot of creativity that I feel like we don't see as often in movies now a days, especially in horror. I think we play too much on whats realistic and not so much on the fears our imagination can play on.
Over-all, this is an epic horror movie. If you can stomach the first 10 minutes, I suggest you watch it. Just keep in mind, it's a movie from the 80's.

The Clovehitch Killer
Directed by Duncan Skiles
Released 2018
Scare Level: ðŸ˜±
Gore Level: ðŸ©¸
Over-all rating: ðŸ’šðŸ’š
Review:
This is definitely a steady burn up to the conclusion. It definitely is a suspenseful thriller.
We follow a kid who is slowly unraveling that his father is a famous serial killer that plagued the town 10 years ago. The perspective of the story is very different than we see in either a documentary or a horror movie, because it's so close to home in a small town. Don is a cub scout leader, member of the church, and reiterates some pretty standard morals to his kids.
It's definitely not a jump-scare type of movie, but it's ment to make you think about what really defines a killer and how anyone could be one.
