Monthly Wrap Up- December

Hey readers!
This is the last monthly wrap up for 2018!

This month I ended up finishing some books I'd been slowly reading, wrapped up a series, and made my biggest book haul of the year.

Books I read:

I finally finished it! I'm so excited to be done, I liked the writing in this book, it just took me way too long to finish it.

This was a re-read for me. I read this as part of the Christmas at Hogwarts read-a-thon I spontaneously decided to join.

My mother in law let me borrow this and another Mandino book. I get really cautious with borrowed books and I will try to finish them immediately so I can return them before it becomes a year or I forget. I still have The Twelfth Angel to read. Og's writing is simple but also can paint a really great picture in your head. His personal story really influenced his writing, making his stories motivational and inspiring.

I'm so happy to have read this. I can now delve back into all of the ToG trash across the internet without worrying about spoilers.

I finished my re-read of Goblet of Fire. This marks my 8th time re-reading the first four books. It's been an extremely slow re-read for me this go around, though I'm hoping the next three books go a little faster as I've only read those once.

Books I bought:

I did a pretty big haul from Book Outlet after watching CommonSpence do a Black Friday book haul. I did miss the sale, but since most of these books were under $4, I can't be that mad.

I picked up a physical copy of Tower of Dawn. I originally listened to this series on audiobook, which I loved because I tend to do a lot of data entry so something as long as the Throne of Glass series is perfect because the story is super long and things are explained a little more thoroughly when the series has multiple books. Same thing with the Lunar Chronicles.

As I've mentioned before, I am one of the last people out there who hasn't read this series. I do plan on making it through it though, and normally this would be a great candidate for an audiobook read for me, but after all of the weird shit that happened at the end of City of Bones, I don't want to ruin my experience with these characters by having to rewind a million times to understand whats going on, which is where I am currently at. I am still missing City of Heavenly Fire and City of Fallen Angels, which I believe are the last two I need in The Mortal Instruments.

I haven't read the first book in this series yet, and normally I try to refrain from buying an entire series until I know if I'm going to like the books, but I couldn't help myself. This was 100% book-impulse buy for me.

This is another series I have the first book in but haven't read yet, but I have more confidence that I will love this story. I've heard a lot about this series, specifically that everything picks up after the first book so I wanted to be sure to grab the rest so I don't fall of this series before it really gets good.

I've heard wonderful things about Wintersong, and it's been on my "to-buy" list for most of 2018. Since it was here and at a really great price I couldn't pass it up.

Another book that I have the first in the series. A lot of positive reviews for the first book, not so much this one, regardless I didn't want to end up not finishing the series based on reviews and not having the second book.

I have been toying with buying this book between amazon and book outlet for months and since I already had an order and this book is always on book outlet, I finally bit the bullet. I'm really looking forward to reading about the world that has been created in Scythe and eventually Thunderhead.

The last book from my book outlet haul is Sabriel. I could have picked up more in this series, but I'm cautious in case I'm not a huge fan. A few people I know have read it and loved it who have a similar taste in books as myself, the synopsis makes me worry a little bit that I wont like it.

My husband also won a Kindle Fire from work. We already have a normal tablet and since I'm the reader in the family, he told me I could have it.

I'm pretty excited, I had the OG Kindle when it first launched and until earlier this year I was still using it. We chose to get a tablet instead of another Kindle but I quickly realized that it's hard to read on a tablet that is too big for your short fingers.

These were the only two Kindle editions I picked up this month. Windwitch was $2.99 and I have high hopes for the series so I chose to pick this up should I have one of those "I need book two NOW!" moments. On Amazon's Digital Day, where downloads are on sale, I picked up Legendary. I already have Caraval as an E book and although I've heard mixed this, I still picked it up since it was on sale.

That's all for the month of December! I clearly went all in on purchasing some books. I know Barnes and Noble had a huge sale around Christmas, but all of the books I wanted to pick up were out of stock in store.

It's been quite a year of reading, I have a lot of goals for 2019.
