Monthly Wrap Up- October
Hello readers!
Welcome to my October wrap up!
I knew October would be a busy reading month, mostly due to the release of Kingdom of Ash and wanting to get some re-reads done. I did re-start my audible subscription, which always helps with absorbing stories, specifically re-reads.
Below are the books I've read/listened to this month:
I was hoping to read the complete Throne of Glass series prior to the release of Kingdom of Ash, but unfortunately my Grandpa passed away in the middle of the month which put a strain on my reading. I did manage to finish these books though prior to the end of October. I will finish reviewing the series in November and hopefully get to crack into the monster book that is Kingdom of Ash before the year is over.
Edgar Allen Poe
I also picked up a few of Poe's work on audible. I've already read the stories and I do have a physical copy of his works, but I was making Halloween decorations with my husband and decided that listening to Poe and other scary stories would be fun while we worked.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving
This was another story we listened to via audible. Having this narrated was awesome because B.J. adds so much character to the writing to add some spook-appeal.

The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs
Another spooky story, I originally read this in Jr. High and it always resonated with me. There is something so creepy about the story.

The Mortal Immortal by Mary Shelley
I've never read anything by Shelley, though I'm a fan of Frankenstein in the pop-culture format. I decided to start here before diving into Frankenstein.

Carrie by Stephen King
King is another author I haven't read before. I did start The Dark Tower on audiobook this summer, and I quickly realized that I should start out my King collection with a physical book instead of audio. Especially with how out-there TDT ended up halfway through.
Below are the books I purchased this month:

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
I pre-ordered Kingdom of Ash, the Barnes & Noble edition once I saw Bloomsbury post the differences in the special editions. Usually I order all of my pre-orders through Amazon but once I saw the inside of the dust-jacket for this I knew I had to have it. My original plan was to wait for the paperback copy since that is the version I have the rest of the series in.

The Wicked King by Holly Black
I knew I was going to end up pre-order this book eventually, and since I was ordering Kingdom of Ash I decided to pre-order the Barnes and Noble exclusive edition of this one as well.
