Mid-Year book freak out Tag

Hello readers.
I am aware we've passed the mid-year mark, however I still feel like this tag is relevant this far into the year. This tag has been going around Youtube and although I did do a re-cap in July of the books I've read, I wanted to post this to focus more on just what I thought of the books I've read by to expand to the books I want to get to before the year is over.

1. Best book you've read so far in 2018.
Illuminae

2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2018.
I re-read ACOMAF and it's still my favorite sequel and the best book in the series.

3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to.
For me, I've been thinking about Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff. I want to read this book but at the same time I've been trying to catch up on the Nevernight series before I emotional fuck myself with another series he's written.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas. I liked this story, I'm not as emotionally connect to the characters like I was with ACOMAF Rhysand.

5. Biggest disappointment.
Beyond the Pale Motel by Francesca Lia Block. I just can't believe it.

6. Biggest surprise.
So far, The Name of The Wind. I think about that book from time to time.

7. Favorite new author. (Debut or new to you).
Jay Kristoff, I've made my way through some of his pieces this year and I enjoyed them.

8. Newest fictional crush.
Kaz Brekker

9. Newest favorite character.
Kaz Brekker, no I didn't studder.

10. Book that made you cry.
I can't remember between the two, but either The Glass Castle or A River in Darkness

11. Book that made you happy.
The Name of The Wind

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year.
Red Sparrow, although I haven't read the book the movie was good.

13. Favorite review you've written this year.
Probably The Name of The Wind, a close second would be Beyond a Pale Motel.

14. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year.
Obsidio is gorgeous, Milk & Honey I also liked.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Godsgrave for sure, I'm hoping to get close to finishing Percy Jackson as well.
I originally set myself a goal at the beginning of the year to complete The Mortal Instruments and the Air Awaken series by the end of the year, which I may do as well.
I also need to finish the alphabet.;)
