The 50 Bookish Questions Tag, because I don't do enough of these. ;)

1.) What was the last book you read?

The last book I finished was Warcross by Marie Lu.

2.) Was it a good one?

Yeah, I didn't plan on reading it but Overdrive had a copy on audiobook so I decided what the hell.

3.) What made it good?

The plot and Emika. I did listen to this book and I think it affects the story. I didn't care that much for Emika's relationship but I think that's because I didn't care for the narrators rendition of Hideo. The entire plot was good.

4.) Would you recommend it to other people?

I don't think I'd scream it from the rooftops but if somebody asked me if they should read it I'd say yes.

5.) How often do you read?

At least once a day. I'll listen to audio books while working, read a physical or e-book at lunch and then I'll usually spend at least an hour reading before bed. If I work an opposite schedule from my husband I read from about 9:00a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with intervals to either eat or go book shopping.

6.) Do you like to read?

Nah. ;)

7.) What was the last bad book you read?

I've been struggling through Song of Achilles, I'm hoping to make it through it however if the next 50 pages don't get any better I may DNF.

8.) What made you dislike it?

The writing was dry, the story is dry. I love the appreciation the boys have for each other but most of the story so far is reflecting on very mundane things during ancient Greece.

9.) Do you wish to be a writer?

I'd love to be a writer. I've been working on a fictional story for about 10 months and I'll visit it from time to time. Nothing with structure or looking to bust it out and publish anytime soon. I like having a slow creative outlet.

10.) Has any book ever influenced you greatly?

It's hard to say. I'd agree, specifically with books I read in Highschool but I couldn't name anything specific. I mostly read contemporary books about girls that had issues with drug addiction, suicide, or sexual abuse. Since I've never experienced any of these I'd say yes?

11.) Do you read fan-fiction?

I’ve read some. I don't think I really care for it, unless it's a specific fanfic author I can find. I notice people get too eager to write the climax so parts of their story are rushed.

12.) Do you write fan-fiction?

I'd consider it. It's been a while but I think I'd probably try with Harry Potter fanfic first, even though that is a saturated market.

13.) What is your favorite book?

I can't pick one. I've tried and I can't.

14.) What is your least favourite book?

The Woodcutter by Kate Danley. I can't with that mess.

15.) Do you prefer physical books or ready on a device (like Kindle)?

Physical, though I also like the Kindle app.

16.) When did you learn to read?

I remember reading since I was really little. Graduating from picture books to chapter books was a little intimiating.

17.) What is your favorite book you had to read in school?

The Odyssey, though I can't recall if we ever technically finished reading it or just watched the movie when we got too far behind.

18.) What is your favorite book series?

Harry Potter, ACOTAR, Illuminae, Percy Jackson.

19.) Who is your favorite author?

Francesca Lia Block and Annette Curtis Klaus. I've already done a recommendation post for the former and plan to do one for the latter as well.

20.) What is your favorite genre?

SciFi, Fantasy, YA, Thriller, Mystery, romance to a degree.

21.) Who is your favorite character in a book series?

Just to pick a random, I loved Hannah from the Illuminae files. AIDAN is also an honorable mention.

22.) Has a book ever transported you somewhere else?

Thats what books are for!

23.) Which book do you wish had a sequel?

Blood & Chocolate, though I'm also hesitant because I enjoyed the book the way it is. There is still a part of me that would love to see what happens between Vivian and Gabe.

24.) Which book do you wish DIDN’T have a sequel?

Every Heart A Doorway, not because I didn't enjoy the sequels I just didn't think they were necessary.

25.) How long does it take you to read a book?

It depends on a few things:
Is it an audiobook?
Is it interesting?
How many pages?
Is it part of a series?

26.) Do you like when books become movies?

Yes, although the movie adaptations are never the same or even come close to the books they are based on. I like being able to see the things I read about. For instance, the sets for each scene really add to the experience that I couldn't flourish enough in my head with the details provided but the movie made me see how magical everything was.

27.) Which book was ruined by its movie adaptation?

Blood & Chocolate. Please, please, please... don't watch the movie. The book is great but the movie was garbage that nobody deserved.

28.) Which movie has done a book justice?

I don't think I can pick one because I haven't watched that many.
From the clips of The Notebook movie I've seen I'd say it was comparable to the book. The book was super bland and basing off of the praise and love for the movie I imagine it added more emotion that I felt was missing from the book.

29.) Do you read newspapers?

Ha, no.

30.) Do you read magazines?

I used to, but I think People Style watch was discontinued and now I don't find a point since I'm too old for Teen Bop.

31.) Do you prefer newspapers or magazines?

Either. Magazines are slightly more preferred however newspapers have the puzzles in the back.

32.) Do you read while in bed?

Yep!

33.) Do you read while on the toilet?

Yep!

34.) Do you read while in the car?

Nooooo. I get super car sick. I can listen to audiobook and drive though.

35.) Do you read while in the bath?

I have. I currently don't have a tub in my bathroom and I'm not brave enough to switch it up to bathe and read.

36.) Are you a fast reader?

I'd say so.

37.) Are you a slow reader?

Depends on the book.

38.) Where is your favourite place to read?

My bed or the couch.

39.) Is it hard for you to concentrate when you read?

It really truely depends. I used to not be able to read with the TV on, but I've gotten better. I think it's because I find TV more boring than the book I'm reading.

40.) Do you need a room to be silent while you read?

No, unless I'm having a hard time getting into the story.

41.) Who gave you your love for reading?

It's hard to say. My parents have always been supportive of me loving to read but neither of them really pressured me. I remember once my mom made me do the local library summer reading program and I smashed the goal at the beginning of the summer. I didn't want to do it at first because I was afraid it would compromise the amount of outside play time I would have.

42.) What book is next on your list to read?

I have two read-a-thons coming up, one of which I will be doing a post for. The other, Tome Topple, I plan on reading The Book Theif and The Name of The Wind.

43.) When did you start to read chapter books?

5 or 6? I can't remember what grade I was in.

44.) Who is your favourite children’s book author?

I didn't have a favorite author however I LOVED The Royal Diaries books about different royal women written for middle grade readers.

45.) Which author would you most want to interview?

I'd love to interview Rick Riordan.

46.) Which author do you think you would be friends with?

It's hard to say. I don't know authors that well and it's hard to pick based on their work.

47.) What book have you reread the most?

I know I've listed this book several times already but Blood & Chocolate and Harry Potter 1-4.

48.) Which books do you consider “classics?”

The Lord of the flies, The Bell Jar, The Odyssey, Pride & Prejudice, Harry Potter, Mark Twain.

49.) Which books do you think should be taught in every school?

To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic that I think all kids should read, along with Uncle Tom's Cabin and the Outsiders.

50.) Which books should be banned from all schools?

Personally, I think any religious works should not necessarily be banned but prevented from being placed on any sort of curriculum. The bible or quran should not be brought into English, Science, or Health class; but if a student chooses to carry one or read one for leisure it should be allowed. Any book labeled fiction and explained as fiction should be okay despite the topic of magic, fantasy, etc. I'm not aware of any restrictions on non-fiction or biographies, I would hope the context of either would be taken into consideration when choosing a piece of literature for education.
