Favorite Book Covers

Hello readers!

Today I thought about doing a little bit different post. We're all well aware of the saying "Never judge a book by it's cover", right? However sometimes, thats what initially draws you in. In today's day and age of Bookstagram and blog posts, the cover may actually really matter to draw people in. So I figured I'd make a list of all the books I either have read, are on my TBR or I'm lusting after based on their cover.

Books I've Read

Before reading the Red Queen series, I had no idea what I was getting into. I picked this up purely because I was getting back into reading and I loved the cover. The color theme and the fact that they're metallic totally drew me in.

I'd seen some reviews about Nevernight, and I did a little bit of research before actually purchasing this book. I originally found it from a Bookstagramer's tattoo of Mia. Then I saw the cover, thought it was gorgeous and after starting the Illuminae files I knew I had to pick it up if only to stare at how beautiful it is.

Picture it now, me in the 6th grade all glasses and braces. I saw this super simple cover and was like, "Aw yeah". The minimalist artwork really drew me in.

Now we'll fast forward to senior year of Highschool, one of my english teachers stopped me and asked if I wanted to be a part of their new book club. I got to pick first (man, talk about a new pressure). I don't know how I found this book, but I saw the cover, specifically the title and was like, "Aw yeah." Que the movie 3 years later.

Books I Own

There are many covers for Circe, they are all equally gorgeous. They also have my favorite, metallic covers. Boom, reason one to pick it up. I had no idea what the book was about, other than potentially greek mythology which I'm always down for. Then I remembered Bernadette Peters and her dramatic rendition of Circe in The Odyssey and was even more drawn to this book. I think the UK version I like a little bit better since it's actually metallic.

I know plenty of people have gushed about this book, and I'm excited to start it. I absolutely love all versions of this cover, but I think the white is my favorite. The simplicity is always up my alley. I'm not a fan of a busy cover or one that has either people or a city. I feel like it really dates a book, and sometimes less is more.

This cover is beautiful, and the cover for the sequel is equally as beautiful. I love the lettering, which really draws me into a cover and the filigree. This has everything I love about a good cover.

Books I Want

Now, if you don't know my favorite color is blue. Which is probably why the next four books are on this list. Given to the Sea has beautiful lettering, gorgeous artwork, and the ocean. The sequel I'm on the fence about, it does have beautiful artwork but I'm not as crazy about it.

Wintersong has a gorgeous cover, as does Shadowsong. I've almost picked up this book countless times from online or in store. The reviews for this book are also so phenominal but after Shadowsong came out and more people didn't like it, I hesitated to purchase the series. I'm also not sure if I'm ready for the heartbreak that I feel like is guaranteed with this book. One day, for sure though, I will own this, even if it's only to frame the cover.

This cover is stunning. Absolutely stunning. Again, I'm a sucked for filagree. The colors, the lettering, the artwork. I just get heart eyes looking at it. I've read the synopsis, but I don't think I actually retained any of it because I was more preoccupied with the cover art. The sequel is also gorgeous, but the colors in this one really win me over.

I've never read a Veronica Roth book, and I know people are stans. This cover fits the theme I think I've eluded to in why I like most of these covers. It's dark, theres some blue/green, theres gold, and it has the illusion of being glittery. I haven't seen this one in person, but if the gold is actually sparkly then this book has moved up my to purchase list.

What are some of the books you guys purchased, read, or are lusting after because of their cover? Are any of mine a must read for you guys? Let me know in the comments below.
See you next time!
