Books or Series I Don't Plan on Finishing
Hello readers!
Today I'm going to be talking about series and stand-alones I don't have any interest in finishing or D-N-Fing. It could be because I didn't like the books in the series I did read, or it's been so long and my TBR can't handle re-reading books, or I just in general don't have much of an interest.
I'm not saying these books are terrible, except for one, they're just books I'm not interested in for one reason or another. If you'd like to argue that I should continue the series, feel free to do so in the comments.
What a surprise right? I read this book and at least two of the books in the eight book series like, 15 years ago. I didn't really like it back then, but I mostly read it because I felt like I would burn myself out on re-reading Harry Potter. The story is okay from what I remember, but I don't care enough to go back and re-read all of these. I think I didn't really start liking it until the third book or halfway through the second.
This book is in a similar boat to Artemis Fowl. I read this my freshman year of highschool and I thought it was okay. I don't remember at all what happened, other than vampires and maybe a kid trying to join a circus? I know there is a movie but I can't take it seriously with John C. Reilly in it. I only got through the first book, but I don't care enough to re-read the first one to get through the rest.
I know I'm in the unpopular opinion about this book, and that;s fine. I tried listening to this on Audible, which from reviews I've seen on Audible, it's a top recommended pick. I really couldn't get into this story and something about the narrator bugged me to no end. I may pick up a physical copy some day and try re-reading it, but not anytime soon.
Remember how I said that only one of these books was truly terrible? It's this one. I found this for free on Amazon and even if it's still free I can't recommend it. The cover is gorgeous, I love everything about it. The story is utter garbage. I have no idea who the main character is or if it's supposed to be multiple re-tellings. There is not a lot of cohesive flow to the entire book. I got more than 100 pages in and I just got fed up. The only way I could see reading this, not even enjoying just finishing, is if you did it in one sitting so maybe, just maybe, it made sense.
I really liked this book, it was a good middle-grade story. If I remember the movie was okay too. Out of the entire list here, this is the first book I would make an attempt at re-reading just to finish the series. I think I got halfway through the third book before just stopping all together. It reminds me of the LOTR movies for some reason. I just don't currently have the will or time to re-read this one. Someday, maybe.
I've technically finished the Lunar Chronicles, I have a review out. These two are spin-offs of the series, one being about Levanna and the other is a collection of short stories about different characters. Although I think the Lunar Chronicles was a decent collection, I don't plan on completing the Cinder-verse with these two.
What books do you not plan on finishing and why? Are there any on my list you really think I should try to finish? Let me know in the comments below.
