Bookish Q & A
As a new blogger, I figured it would be helpful if I did a Q & A!
1. What is your current read?
I am currently listening to Cress from the Lunar Chronicles and reading, for the first time, City of Bones. I feel like I'm living a Highschool fantasy.
2. Where do you read?
I listen to books at work all the time. I work a 5/10 schedule and I'm secluded 90% of the time so plugging it in and listening while I work is no problem. Most of my physical reading is either at home in bed or while camping throughout the summer. I easily get motion sickness, so I never read in the car, which is unfortunate because I have an hour commute each day.
3. Audio, E-Reader, or physical?
I would say I prefer a physical book over all three, but audio books are easiest for me since I can multi-task. I very rarely use my E-reader, which is an extremely old Kindle Fire.
4. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?
I don't have much a preference, though I do tend to read more than one book at a time.
5. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you've read them?
I get quite a few of my books from used book stores, there is one in my area that has a great sale day. Typically what I do is grab a handful of books that look interesting and I'll bring them home. I'll return them to one of the two book stores I go to if I can't find time to read them or if I didn't like them enough to keep them.
6. How often do you skim a book before reading it?
If I'm book shopping by myself I definitely will skim through, otherwise most of the rest of my shopping is a specific book I want.
7. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?
I have no problems giving negative reviews for books I don't like, even if they're popular. I'm typically a stubborn person, but with reading if I can't get into a book at the very most halfway through it, I'll stop reading it no problem. If I stop reading a book, it's usually because I can't get into the story and I can't justify my time reading it.
8. Do you ever dog ear or write in the margins o your books?
Nope, never. I can't bring myself to alter the quality of the book in a permanent way. I have considered using page tabs to mark parts of the book I'd like to go back to or things I want to remember. My preservation for books is also why I have a hard time lending out my super-favs to anybody.
9. Do you have a reading comfort zone and how often do you read out of it?
I used to have a comfort zone, but since I actively started reading again a year ago I think I've done a good job and branching out. I used to only be into reading easier, teen romance, YA stuff and would shy away from anything lengthy or that I felt I had the potential to easily get stuck. I wouldn't say I've strayed to far from that, but I will pick up a book on a good recommendation from someone.
10. Do you like to keep your books organized?
As far as keeping them all on a shelf, yes. Do I color coordinate? No. Do I coordinate by genre? No. Do I have a specific Harry Potter/Shadowhunter/Half-Blood/Twilight shelf? Not yet. ;) I am however a decent enough human to sort my books by series and by size.
These were lengthy questions, so I figured I'd keep it at 10. I do have more questions to answer as far as what types of books I like to give you an idea of what you may see here.
